• Faithful to my Homeland, the Republic of Poland

People living in Poland can be recognized as Polish citizens by the President of a region. In these cases it is required to submit an appropriate application directly to the President of a region according to a place of a residence. It is not possible to submit the application through the consulate.

Foreigners living abroad have to make a request for granting Polish citizenship to the President of the Republic of Poland. It is a special procedure provided for exceptional situations. Every request of granting Polish citizenship is examinated individually by the President of the Republic of Poland, therefore it cannot be guaranteed that the request will be considered justified. Waiting time is around 2 years.

If an applicant lives abroad, it does not matter if she/he is married with a Polish citizen. It conuts only for those living permanently in Poland.

An application shall be made in person to the elevant office of the President of a region.

The application can be also submitted through the Polish Consulate in Italy. In this case it is necessary to take an appointmet with the Consul and present a relevant form filled out in Polish together with other necessary documents (application form). The Consul transmits the request and all documentation to the office of the President of the Republic of Poland through the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A consular fee: 360 euro (it does not include a cost of possible confirmations of the documents’ copies, translations etc.).
